Anne Degia-Pala QSM Stands for a Diverse City

Ethnic peoples call for representation to local government will be realized in September.  Anne Degia-Pala is standing for the Henderson-Massey Local Board elections.  Resident in Glendene, a business owner and a community advocate Anne is committed and passionate about Waitakere. A member of the Ethnic Peoples’ Advisory Panel (EPAP), Auckland Council, she believes….. community development is core to good governance.  The focus is on representation and for many years not one representative has been either Maori, Pacific or ethnically diverse.

Diversity is fundamental for an inclusive Auckland.  “I want to contribute the voice of diversity to provide solutions on issues for employment, education,  affordable housing, effective public transport, safety and welfare of youth and elderly; issues that affect each and everyone in the Henderson-Massey local board area including parts of West Harbor, Te Atatu Peninsula, Te Atatu South,  Henderson, Massey and Glendene.

“We must seek best practices for the globally diverse populations, of the vibrant and youthful community that we are,” says Anne.  Her community work for two decades has been recognized.  She is current a board member of Water Safe Auckland, Road Safety Trust Nix Crew, a Resource Panel Member of Child, Youth and Family and a member of Community Police Reference Group, Waitakere.  Endorsed for her governance skills, Anne will be a great inclusion in the newly elected local board.
