World’s Strongest Teenager: Theo Maddox Has Broken Two U20 All Time World Lifting Records At A Powerlifting in Gold Coast

Auckland, 3 October – Auckland based teenager Theo Maddox has broken two U20 all time world lifting records at a powerlifting event in the Gold Coast to effectively become the world’s strongest teenager ever.
Judged by three Australian Powerlifting League referees, he successfully lifted 390kg in a deadlift, beating the previous record holder, American Liam Newell by 20kg.
He also achieved a record 962.5kg total across the three competition lifts, including a sleeved squat of 355kg and a bench press of 217.5kg.
Coach and event manager, Thomas Lilley of Zero Weakness, said “Theo is very impressive, and it’s been a real privilege to support and see him achieve these results here today”.
Theo, 19, started lifting when he went to Tauranga Boys College at age 16, setting a record bench press there on his last day of school.
At 6 ft. 3in and weighing 135kg, Theo currently trains 12-16 hours a week, and has been drinking 4 liters of protein milk daily in the lead up to this competition. He says, “I think I should ask Fonterra if they’d like to sponsor me!”
As an Auckland University student studying sports science, Theo hopes to train and coach other young lifters, using his experience and passion for researching the best supplement and nutritional programs. Follow him on Instagram: theo_maddox to keep up with his journey.
